The dancing team of the College of Indigenous Studies (CIS), National Dong Hwa University (NDHU), won the overall champion, champion in traditional dance, and champion in creative dance, of the 4th National Intercollegiate Indigenous Dancing Contest on November 28, 2009.

Organized by the Council of Indigenous Peoples, Executive Yuan, the National Intercollegiate Indigenous Dancing Contest aims at encouraging and promoting indigenous cultures among students. This year, there were 21 participating teams of which 12 were selected for the final in competing for the championships for traditional and creative dances.

Songs from the Waterfall, was the traditional dance by the NDHU CIS dancing team. It featured the mayasvi, a ritual of the Alishan Tsou tribe in worshipping their God of Wars. The creative dance, How Long is the Way? How Far is Home? was choreographed for the tribal victims of Typhoon Morakot. The dancers were so involved in the performance that the audience was deeply impressed and touched. The NDHU CIS dancing team is the three-time consecutive champions in traditional and creative dances and the two-time consecutive overall champion in the National Intercollegiate Indigenous Dancing Contest.
