Namoh Rata who has been dedicated in Amis/ Pangcah language and culture revitalization received Honorary Doctorate from WINU

Each member country of World Indigenous Nations Higher Education Consortium （WINHEC） nominates their honorary doctorates who have been through lifelong meritorious academic endeavors for the benefit of their own indigenous peoples to World Indigenous Nations University （WINU）. And the awards are given in the annual consortium to praise their endeavors and thank their humble dedication. The nominees of this years are in a total number of nine: one from Alaska, two from Norway, two from Hawaii, three from Australia, and one from Taiwan. The nominee as well as the recipient of Honorary Doctorate from Taiwan goes to Amis teacher, Namoh Rata.

The chairman of Hualien Indigenous Community College, Sifo Lakaw who has been deeply influenced by Maori culture's revitalization and also conductsed immersion education at home, said he was also proud of being one of Pangcah people

Namoh Rata has been dedicated to the research of Amis language and the compilation of education materials. Except for his teaching position in schools, he records and documents Amis songs and tunes, compiles the dictionary in indigenous language, and co-founds "Yofayof no Palofasaray to Sowal no Pangcah i Taywan（YPSPT）," the Amis Language Sustainable Development Association for preserving and revitalizing indigenous language. The award was granted by the president of WINU～Dr. Hohaia Collier from New Zealand～during the WINHEC. Every attendee paid their highest respect to the recipients and their contribution to the indigenous education and construction of subjectivity of indigenous education. Namoh Rata was accompanied by his family members and some Amis peoples, receiving the awards humbly with the declaration that it'd be his lifelong obligation to be dedicated to Amis language and cultural education. Recently, Namoh Rata also received The Professional Medal of the First Class for his endeavor of preserving Amis culture, language, education, and research.

Chairman of Hualien Indigenous Community College～Sifo Lakaw～said in warm words that he'd be so proud and glad of Namoh Rata's recognition and reception of his honorary doctorate by the famous institution WINU which has been empowering leadership and providing resources for Indigenous peoples across the world from their own Indigenous sovereignty and knowledge systems as Namoh Rata's hard works have been known by many people for his dedication to local indigenous communities in mainstream system.
