NDHU Vice-President Prof. Shin-Feng Lin concentrated on student's demo

The Department of Computer Science and Information Engineering （Dept of CSIE） at National Dong Hwa University hosted its 「Undergraduate Independent Study Graduation Exhibition」on May 31^st, 2019 at the Science & Engineering Building II, Room A337. A total of 26 teams of CSIE domestic and foreign students participated in this exhibition. Teams were subdivided into"Multimedia and Intelligence Applications" and "Network and System Applications" groups. The exhibition was open to the public, and crowded with many students and professors.

Vivid demonstration and interaction with visitors

CSIE's「Undergraduate Independent Study Graduation Exhibition」was the demonstration of students to transform their four-years studying results into creative applications. This year, many teams designed and developed the products according to students'needs of the campus lives, and fully demonstrated the solid professional training results and abundant creations of students. Each student team was evaluated on oral briefing, question defense, and project demonstration with rigorous standards.

In order to be objective, Dept of CSIE invited Professor Fu-hao Yeh from the Department of Information Technology and Management of Fooying University, Professor Gu Hsin Lai from the Department of Technology Crime Investigation of Taiwan Police College, Professor Chia Hung Hsiao from the Department of Medical Informatics of Tzu Chi University, and Professor Chia Hung, Kao from the Department of Applied Mathematics of National Taitung University to be the evaluators. The evaluators were impressed by students' creative ingenuity and research and development ability.

As a result, the Best Awards of the " Multimedia and Intelligence Applications" group were "Deep Partitur - Sheet Music Recognition樂譜辨識" and "Pigeon Go Away based on Artificial Intelligence Image Recognition基於人工智慧圖像辨識之自動驅鴿裝置". The Excellent Awards were "Media Search by Using Images" and "Home Protection by Real-time Intelligent Surveillance System智慧即時監控系統守護您甜美的家". The development of "Pigeon Go Away based on Artificial Intelligence Image Recognition" system was practical and potential for the market, and had been widely reported by the media.

The Best Awards of the "Network and System Applications" group were "Building a Course Selection System By GPA Learning-Coin with Blockchain Technology以區塊鏈建置學分幣完成校園選課系統" and "Dorm Matching APP宿舍媒合APP ". The Excellent Awards were "Oh！My Logo！" and "Tripr東華車友".

The development of "Building a Course Selection System By GPA Learning-Coin with Blockchain Technology" integrated the Blockchain technology with the campus course selecting mechanism, to encourage students to strive for better course performances in order to earn more coins to bid the higher priority for selecting the popular courses.

To encourage the participation of exhibition, each visitor could cast one vote for his/her favorite. The Most Popularity Awards went to the "Building a School Course Selection System By Using Blockchain Credit-Coins以區塊鏈建置學分幣完成校園選課系統" with 85 votes, and the "Home Protection by Real-time Intelligent Surveillance System智慧即時監控系統守護您甜美的家" with 57 votes.

The Department of Computer Science and Information Engineering has hosted its 「Undergraduate Independent Study Graduation Exhibition」 for more than 10 years. Many innovative ideas and up-to-date systems constantly come out every year. Some of them have won awards in the large-scale competition off-campus. CSIE's Graduation Exhibition not only verifies the outstanding professional training of the students and stimulates the cross-discipline creativities, it also rehearses the team corporation to achieve the final goal.

The Graduation Exhibition has become the important characteristics and traditions of Dept of CSIE. Students that can successfully pass the examination of this graduation exhibition would own the sufficient ability to meet employment needs after graduation and to cope with various professional challenges easily.
